Time-saving tips

Your location: Time-saving tips

Time is money!

Save time, save money!

By reducing the time amount for packing and travelling, you can become a more efficient traveler! Reach your goals much easier, become cost-efficient as well.

Pre-travel time saving tips

These pieces of advice are useful in reducing costs and travelling calmer with less luggage.

Obtain documentation for trip:

- maps, guidebooks are better obtained well before

- you might like to take a laptop computer with yourself and install map software, such as Google Earth on it and then plan each day of your trip on it!

- otherwise you will take decision much harder after longer time and this will consume the time allocated for the journey (less efficient travelers search for map stores on location and have no idea about where a certain attraction is)

Obtain rail/bus passes in advance:

- if you are travelling to a region or a country where you intend to extensively use rail transportation or bus transportation services, then you can obtain passes for weeks, months before

- this way, at your destination you will not have to search for the place to buy and stand in line for the tickets

- passes allow several cheaper or even free trips depending on distance or the number of departures

Smart packing in advance:

- packing well in advance (not just 1, but rather 2-3 days before) will get you

- only pack what you really need, this way you minimize the weight of the luggage

Travel insurance:

- don't just get one because it is necessary, but also because it reduces a number of unexpected costs and time spent in case something bad happens

Save time while travelling

As you left your home, you are already on a trip. Whatever you do from then on consumes the time of your trip. And, as we all know "time is money", you will also consume money.

Most of us are unaware of that.

Let's see: if you are lazy and sleep until 10 AM, then eat later, visit the attractions later, some museums will close by the time you get there, then you will have to visit them the next day and so your schedule will lengthen or you might have to give up on certain things. You will spend more on hotel nights, more food paid and so on.

Sleeping and resting efficiently:

- go to bed early, wake up to an alarm clock early in the morning

- reduce the time spent sleeping by getting up earlier, but don't force your body to the extremes, 7 AM is enough, but in case you feel you need it, go rest in the afternoon

Bring food:

- spend less time and money buying food by bringing packed food that doesn't weigh too much, nor does it get degraded easily

- a good idea is to bring a small water heater and bring teabags, this can substitute a good warm soup every day

Stay an optimum amount of nights at a hotel:

- calculate in advance how long you want to stay and book in advance for that number of nights

- always allow 1 day at the beginning and 1 at the end of the trip for resting, getting used to climate, time zone, etc.

Less entertainment:

- cut down the beer-drinking and table-chatting with your pals, rather spend more on visiting attractions and having fun at the important locations

Don't do everything you do at home:

- don't waste time on senseless activities while on a trip, such as TV watching for long hours, shopping for clothes, trying on clothes that you can also buy at home...
